Practical guide

Being such a popular tourist destination, Biarritz is easily accessed from many parts of Europe making it an enticing location to learn French in France. An increasing number of cities have direct flights to Biarritz Airport with low cost and regular airlines. There are also direct, high-speed TGV trains which run regularly from Paris Montparnasse station. France’s extensive motorway system also makes driving to Biarritz easy from all over France and northern Spain.

Arrival in Biarritz

For those staying with host families they will automatically be greeted by a member of the family at the airport or train station. Please provide complete travel details at least two weeks before arrival. For those staying at a residence-apartment or hotel they must make their way to their chosen accommodation either by bus or taxi.

Arrival by train

When being met at the train station, the host family will greet you in the main hall with a sign with your name on it.

For those not being met, bus n°2 takes you directly to the centre of town. The bus ticket costs 1.20€ (5 tickets = 4.75€, 10 tickets = 9.50€). Tickets can be bought in a newsagents or S.T.A.B (bus company) shop.

There are also taxis outside the train station that take you directly into town, which will cost approximately 9-15€.

Arriving at the airport

When being met at the airport, the host family will greet you at the passenger arrivals gate with a sign with your name on it. For those not being met, there is a bus service just outside the airport that takes you directly into the centre of town which costs 1.15€. A taxi into the centre of Biarritz costs approximately 9-15€ during the day and 12-20€ at night.
