Biarritz is equally renowned for its magnificent surfing beaches in France as much as its luxury surroundings, making it a popular destination for French language students and international tourists alike. It has attracted many famous people throughout the last two centuries including Ernest Hemingway, Queen Victoria, and Frank Sinatra. A villa, built in 1854 by Empress Eugene, the wife of Napoleon III, still presides over the northern end of Biarritz’s beach, though these days it has been renamed to “The Hotel du Palais”, and provides accommodation for tourists. This unique French seaside resort offers a host of things for visitors to do and see on a trip to the French countryside.
